Summary of the initiative

This structuring project aims to support the creation of an interdisciplinary and intersectoral team that will act as a scientific leader on the study and improvement of access to rehabilitation services in Quebec.

It aims to:

  • Assess and disseminate knowledge on strategies to improve access to rehabilitation services for persons with physical disabilities
  • Bring together different actors and collaborators to better identify obstacles and facilitators to the implementation of strategies to improve access to physical rehabilitation services
  • Create research partnerships that promote the development of concrete strategies to improve access to rehabilitation services, particularly for people in vulnerable situations

In Quebec, thousands of people do not have access to publicly funded rehabilitation services, either because they are not available or because the wait time is excessive. Cultural, geographic or financial factors may also limit access to rehabilitation services, which may reduce people’s potential for recovery.
